- On Deceber 11, 2025, it was reported that India has received commitments worth at least $135 billion in 2025, with tech majors like Google, Microsoft and Amazon leading over $70 billion. Overall FDI inflows rose 16% in April–September, and officials expect total inflows to cross $100 billion for the first time.
- An additional 750–800 proposals worth over $65 billion are in process, spanning semiconductors, energy and manufacturing. This surge is seen as crucial to reversing strained net FDI levels caused by earlier repatriations and foreign investor exits.
- With foreign portfolio investors exiting and the rupee under pressure, long-term FDI is expected to provide stability. Technology leads the inflows, while the government pushes EV manufacturing to attract firms like Tesla, even as major global automakers have exited and Chinese EV players face caution.
